Journal Descriptions

The mission of the Colloquium on Violence & Religion is to "explore, criticize, and develop the mimetic model of the relationship between violence and religion in the genesis and maintenance of culture." Since 1991 the Bulletin has supported this mission with publication of reviews, The Colloquium issues two publications, the COV&R Bulletin and Contagion: Journal of Violence, Mimesis, and Culture. The Bulletin containing the latest news about members, meeting announcements, book reviews and recent bibliographic entries in mimetic theory is available to the public on this website. COV&R members were mailed a print edition of Contagion through 2018. Current editions are electronic. Older issues are archived at PDC and can be found through an internet search. Contagion: Journal of Violence, Mimesis, and Culture is COV&R’s academic journal, published electronically once a year in late spring. Members can access it by going to the COV&R Membership Services page and logging in with their username and password. Then select “More Content” from the menu bar at the top. Contagion is also available through Project Muse and JSTOR, subscription services used by many academic libraries. announcements, and updates to the Bibliography of Literature on the Mimetic Theory.
