Journal Descriptions

Terebijon Gakkaishi (Journal of the Institute of Television Engineers of Japan) is a peer-reviewed scientific and engineering journal published in Japan from 1978 to 1996. It served as the official publication of the Institute of Television Engineers of Japan, later known as the Institute of Image Information and Television Engineers. The journal focused on advancements in television engineering, image processing, broadcasting systems, and related electronic and communication technologies. The journal published original research articles, technical papers, and experimental studies covering a wide range of topics such as video signal processing, digital image compression, broadcasting transmission systems, television receiver design, and optical imaging technologies. It also included studies on signal coding, noise reduction, adaptive filtering, and hardware innovations in television and multimedia systems. During its publication period, Terebijon Gakkaishi played a significant role in the development of modern broadcasting and image information science in Japan. Many foundational technologies used in today’s digital television, HDTV systems, and image compression methods were influenced by research published in this journal. After 1996, the journal was reorganized and continued under a new title reflecting broader coverage of image information engineering and multimedia systems. Today, it is considered an important historical source in the evolution of television engineering and digital imaging technology.
