South African Journal of Agricultural Extension (SAJAE)
Journal Descriptions
The South African Journal of Agricultural Extension (SAJAE) is a peer-reviewed, open-access scholarly journal published by the South African Society for Agricultural Extension (SASAE). Established in 1966, it is one of the oldest and most respected journals in the field of agricultural extension in Africa. The journal serves as a platform for advancing scientific knowledge and practical applications in agricultural extension and rural development. It publishes original research articles, case studies, and reviews that address key issues such as agricultural communication, technology transfer, farmer advisory systems, rural innovation, and participatory development approaches. SAJAE plays a critical role in bridging the gap between agricultural research and practical farming communities by promoting effective extension methodologies and evidence-based interventions. The journal encourages interdisciplinary contributions from agricultural sciences, social sciences, economics, and development studies, provided they have relevance to extension practice. It follows a rigorous peer-review process to ensure high academic quality and relevance. The journal is published twice a year and is fully open access under a Creative Commons license, allowing free global distribution of its content. SAJAE is indexed in major databases such as Scopus, DOAJ, and SciELO South Africa, making it internationally recognized. It is an important academic outlet for researchers, policymakers, and practitioners involved in agricultural and rural development systems.
