Sociological Perspectives (SP)
Journal Descriptions
Sociological Perspectives is a long-established, peer-reviewed academic journal that has been advancing sociological scholarship since 1957. Originally founded as Pacific Sociological Review, the journal adopted its current title in 1983 and today serves as the flagship publication of the Pacific Sociological Association (PSA). It publishes six issues annually and disseminates original research that critically examines social structures, processes, and patterns shaping human societies. The journal’s scope encompasses both theoretical and empirical work across a wide range of topics in sociology, including but not limited to stratification and inequality, race and ethnicity, gender and family, organizations and institutions, culture and identity, political sociology, and globalization. Contributions to Sociological Perspectives are drawn from scholars around the world, making it a truly international forum for interdisciplinary dialogue. Articles typically explore how macro-level forces interact with individual and collective experiences, offering insights into contemporary social challenges and long-standing sociological debates. The journal places emphasis on rigorous methodology, sound theoretical grounding, and relevance to core issues in social science research. As an official publication of the PSA and published by SAGE Publications, Sociological Perspectives is widely indexed and respected within the global sociology community.
