Socialmedicinsk tidskrift (SMT) has been in existence since 1924 and is a journal with a multidisciplinary focus and a broad subject area at the intersection of social work, social insurance, social policy, public health and healthcare. Six issues are published per year. The purpose of publishing Social Medicine Journal (SMT) is to offer a forum to highlight scientific results and discussions on social, healthcare-oriented and public health-oriented issues, as well as issues concerning civil society. The journal is published online and is an open access journal, but SMT also has a printed edition. The publication comprises six issues per year, most of which are themed issues. The journal is published in Swedish, although some of the articles in various thematic issues have been published in Danish, Norwegian and English. The readership consists of a mix of the general public, private and public organizations and institutions, students and subject experts both in Sweden and in the rest of the Nordic region. Socialmedicinal Journal, which has existed since 1924 and is now owned by a foundation, is a journal with a multidisciplinary focus and a broad subject area at the intersection of social work, social insurance, social policy, public health and healthcare, and civil society. Over the years, the editorial staff has been associated with various social medicine departments/departments at Swedish universities. Since 2008, the editorial staff has been based at Karolinska Institutet and its major department, the Department of Global Public Health in Stockholm. Since the beginning, the content of each issue has primarily consisted of a thematic section where an area is highlighted from different perspectives and by different authors. For each thematic area, one or more thematic editors are appointed with good knowledge in the respective area and about which authors can contribute with current research.
