Comparative Political Societies. European Journal for the Analysis of Political Societies (SPC) is a peer-reviewed, bilingual (French and English), and interdisciplinary online journal published twice a year (April and November). Founded in 2008, it aims to develop the study of social and political phenomena from a comparative perspective inspired by the historical sociology of politics, claiming a decompartmentalized conception of the social sciences. It promotes comparative reflection not between cases, but between questions and issues, which leads to defining the issues and research methods for understanding a specific empirical situation by putting it into perspective with phenomena that appear very distant, whether by cultural area or historical period. From 2008 to 2024, editing and publication were provided by the Fonds d'Analyse des Sociétés Politiques (FASOPO). Sociétés politiques comparées. Revue européenne d’analyse des sociétés politiques (SPC) is a peer-reviewed, bilingual (French and English) and interdisciplinary online scientific journal, published twice a year (April and November). Founded in 2008, it promotes the study of social and political phenomena from a comparative perspective inspired by historical sociology of politics, embracing a cross-cutting approach to the social sciences. It develops comparative reflection not between cases, but between questions and issues, which leads to the definition of issues and research methods for understanding a specific empirical situation by putting it into perspective with phenomena that are apparently very distant, whether in terms of cultural area or historical period. SPC aims to be a space of emancipation from current trends towards the standardization of scientific writing and production, and more generally of the ways in which research is conducted, conceptualized and presented. The journal aims to publish a balanced mix of well-known authors with established careers and early-stage authors.
