Journal Descriptions
Signs & Media: A Journal of Semiotics in China and the World Signs & Media: A Journal of Semiotics in China and the World introduces the traditional Chinese theories of meaning, communication and art to the world. It not only introduces these classical perspectives but also engages contemporary Chinese and East Asian semiotics in dialogue with international research. As a double-anonymous peer-reviewed academic journal, Signs and Media focuses on the intersection of semiotics, modern media, communication, and the arts. In an era marked by rapid changes in media and communication, alongside the proliferation of signs, symbols, texts, and art in our globalized, digital world, this journal provides a crucial platform for East-West perspectives on the dynamic production of meaning. The journal includes full-length research articles, review articles, short communications, or other formats exploring the linguistic, philosophical, sociological, anthropological, literary, cognitive and scientific dimensions of semiotics and media studies. Signs and Media is essential for researchers and practitioners in semiotics and media studies who are interested in the generation and mechanisms of meaning, as well as the structure of communication across various forms of media. Signs & Media welcomes the following types of submissions. Please have a look and check our requirements per article type. We have more detailed guidance for the submission of book reviews.
