सन् 1961 की बसंत पंचमी। युवा गिरिराजशरण अग्रवाल और उनके कुछ मित्रों ने महाप्राण निराला की स्मृति में एक आयोजन का विचार किया। तत्काल किसी संस्था का नाम सोचा गया और नाम रखा गया हिंदी साहित्य निकेतन। और इस तरह 50 वर्ष पहले इस संस्था की नींव पड़ी। स्थान था संभल, जिसके संबंध में कहा जाता है कि कल्कि विष्णु का अवतार इसी नगर में होगा। यह तो प्रारंभ था। केवल साहित्यिक आयोजनों पर आधारित थी संस्था। फिर योजना बनी और जनपद मुरादाबाद के कवियों को एक मंच पर लाने का कार्य आरंभ हुआ। तीर और तरंग के नाम से एक संग्रह प्रकाशित हुआ जिसका विमोचन 24 अक्टूबर 1964 को हुआ। यह पहली पुस्तक थी जो हिन्दी साहित्य निकेतन ने प्रकाशित की। संस्था ने अभी तक लगभग तीन सौ पुस्तकें प्रकाशित की हैं। इनमें हर स्तर पर गुणवत्ता का ध्यान रखा गया है। संस्था की ओर से एक त्रैमासिक पत्रिका 'शोध-दिशा' नाम से प्रकाशित होती है, जो साहित्यिक क्षेत्र में अपनी पहचान बना चुकी है। Basant Panchami of 1961. Young Girirajsharan Agarwal and some of his friends thought of organizing an event in the memory of Mahapraan Nirala. Immediately the name of an institution was thought of and it was named Hindi Sahitya Niketan. And thus the foundation of this institution was laid 50 years ago. The place was Sambhal, about which it is said that Kalki Vishnu's incarnation will take place in this city. This was just the beginning. The institution was based only on literary events. Then a plan was made and the work of bringing the poets of Moradabad district on one platform began. A collection named Teer aur Tarang was published which was released on 24 October 1964. This was the first book published by Hindi Sahitya Niketan . The institution has published about three hundred books so far . Quality has been taken care of at every level in these. A quarterly magazine named 'Shodh-Disha' is published by the institution , which has made its mark in the literary field.
