SUCHT is an interdisciplinary journal with an international focus on the presentation of high-quality and innovative scientific and clinical communications in German and English. Special features are the interest in and promotion of interdisciplinary work from the field of addiction research, the promotion of dialogue between specialist disciplines and between research and practice and / or politics. Controversial issues are addressed in particular. The journal publishes original and review papers, position papers as well as methodological and historical works dealing with the use of psychotropic substances, substance-related disorders, health policy and criminological issues as well as contributions on non-substance-related disorders, such as pathological gambling or pathological computer or Internet use. Manuscripts should make a significant contribution to improving knowledge in the areas of classification, etiology, epidemiology, prevention or therapy. The desired dialog between the specialist disciplines and between research and practice is realized in particular through editorials, thematic issues, invited commentaries and letters to the editor. All scientific contributions are peer-reviewed (single-blind), usually by two external, independent reviewers. SUCHT was founded in 1891 and is one of the two oldest journals of addiction research.
