Revue internationale de philosophie (RIP)

Founded in 1938 with the support of Karl Popper and Bertrand Russell, the Revue internationale de philosophie is dedicated to exploring the work of philosophers of the past and present, as well as to promoting philosophical debate on critical contemporary issues. Edited successively by Jean Lameere, Chaïm Perelman, and Michel Meyer, the Revue has long published leading work by scholars from across the world, mainly in French and in English. It publishes in all areas of philosophy, from aesthetics to epistemology, moral and political philosophy to logic, yet it also examines questions of broader interest to the field of philosophy, in art, literature, religion, politics, and society. Over the course of its long history, the journal has published work by key figures in the field, as varied as Edmund Husserl, Ludwig Wittgenstein, Jean-Paul Sartre, Frances Yates, Michel Foucault, Hilary Putnam, Margaret Mead, Jürgen Habermas, Rudolf Carnap, Leo Strauss, and Agnes Heller. In keeping with the journal’s ambitions since its foundation, four special issues are published annually, each of which is dedicated to “the study of a particular movement, philosopher, or philosophical question,” without privileging any single school of thought or tradition. Each issue—which may include articles, notes or even unpublished texts, sometimes in translation—is edited by a guest editor who is a specialist in the field.
