Revue européenne des sciences sociales (RESS)
Journal Descriptions
Since its foundation in 1963, with Raymond Aron's first article on the significance of Pareto's work, the Revue européenne des sciences sociales and Cahiers Vilfredo Pareto, founded by Giovanni Busino, has been a formidable platform for questioning, free from all schools of thought and academic fashions. For the journal's contributors, sociology is best placed to take note of the state of the question in any given discipline or issue. As the science of human behavior, sociology becomes the place where the meaning of other languages is interpreted. In this way, it ensures that no body of scholars can take power over others by relying on the esoteric force of its own language. The journal publishes original research work from a resolutely interdisciplinary perspective: the aim is to illustrate the social sciences in all their pluralist and convergent problematic aspects, without a priori exclusivity. To this end, the journal favours the publication of articles reporting the results of empirical research or integrating broader theoretical reflection at the crossroads of different disciplinary traditions. In so doing, it advocates a reflexive approach that makes the social sciences an object in their own right, to be interrogated, beyond the diversity of their manifestations, in the light of the historicity of their concepts. In addition to the quality of the language and the soundness of the reasoning, the editorial board will primarily assess the interest of the subject, the relevance of the subject and the originality of the author's approach. It will also pay particular attention to the bibliographical references used and the methodological prerequisites outlined. By virtue of its own history, the journal aims to give pride of place to history and economic theory, while embracing the European dimension of its name through cross-cutting themes and comparative studies.
