Revue Défense Nationale (RDN)
Journal Descriptions
This independent journal addresses political, economic, social, and scientific issues, on both a national and international level, from a defense perspective. Published by the Comité d’études de défense nationale,a nonprofit association, it aims to be a home for innovative strategic thinking, applied first and foremost to the “Europe of defense while remaining open to contributions on other subjects. La Revue Défense Nationale is like no other: its vocation is to address all national and international political, economic, social and scientific issues from a defense perspective. This particularity has enabled it to survive the Second World War and, subsequently, all the crises, trials and regime changes that have followed. In France, there is still a public which, despite its differences of opinion, origin and sensibility, retains the same preoccupation - that of defense. The Revue Défense Nationale was conceived in response to this concern. Unlike so many publications devoted to armaments and military issues, it is not dependent on any economic group, financial power or official institution. It is published by the Comité d'études de défense nationale (CEDN), an association operating under the law of 1901, which recruits its own members, elects its board of directors and appoints its president, who is also the publication's director. The magazine lives on subscriptions, advertising revenues and its own resources. This guarantees its independence. This independence translates into a deliberate search for the most competent authors to deal with all topical issues, giving them full freedom of judgment and ensuring that the various currents of opinion are expressed, and that information is objective and clear.
