Revue archéologique (RA)
Journal Descriptions
The Revue archéologique is one of the oldest French scientific periodicals. Initially mainly devoted to the national territory, it gradually focused on classical antiquity. The only French archaeology journal to remain general, it covers all aspects of the Greek and Roman worlds, from Iberia to Central Asia via Gaul: sculpture, painting and ceramics, small objects, architecture, urban planning, geographical, historical and social problems related to archaeology, and often approached through epigraphy or ancient Greek and Latin texts. Traditional art history can then rub shoulders with archaeothanatology, the presentation of a new museum or a website. Current events are followed in numerous book reviews, and in the "Annual Bulletin of the French Society of Classical Archaeology", with summary presentations of the monthly conferences of this society. Journal benefiting from the scientific recognition and support of the Institute of Human and Social Sciences.
