Journal Descriptions

The Review of Education, Pedagogy and Cultural Studies is an international, peer-reviewed journal committed to publishing thoughtful, critical essays which explore the intersection of pedagogy and culture in relation to the manifold political, social, technological, ecological, and economic crises of the contemporary conjuncture. We view education and pedagogy as cultural processes (material/aesthetic) integral to how power, ideology, identity, and subjectivity are produced and struggled over within and across various sites globally. We warmly welcome submissions that examine how pedagogical practices emerge out of and shape specific historical struggles, material practices, and diverse cultural orientations. Our journal prefers critical essays that address specific issues, and multiple texts or cultural phenomena. The Review of Education, Pedagogy, and Cultural Studies prides itself on the interdisciplinary clarity and civic purposiveness of its published research; i.e., we seek essays that speak to a broad range of interested readers and that constitute a form of public engagement. We invite contributors to write not only for their own scholarly circle, but also for others. We respect the specificity of particular research methodologies, rhetorics, objects of analysis, and archives, but also ask that our contributors remember the pedagogical mission of the journal.
