Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics (RAA)
Journal Descriptions
Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics (RAA) is a well-established peer-reviewed scientific journal publishing cutting-edge research and review articles across all fields of astronomy and astrophysics. The journal’s scope includes topics such as the formation and evolution of galaxies, cosmology, high-energy astrophysical phenomena, stellar and solar physics, dynamics of planetary systems, space observation techniques, and novel astrophysical instrumentation. RAA traces its roots to earlier publications dating back to 1981, but the modern international journal format began around 2009, providing an English-language platform for global scientific exchange. It appears monthly, with 12 issues per year, and is jointly published by IOP Publishing Ltd. on behalf of the National Astronomical Observatories, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Chinese Astronomical Society, with distribution support from Science Press (Beijing). The editorial leadership is headed by Zhan-Wen Han and Liang Gao, who guide the journal’s scientific direction and ensure rigorous peer review and quality standards. The journal serves a broad international research community by presenting significant advances in observational, theoretical, and computational aspects of astrophysics, supporting rapid communication of major discoveries and developments in the field.
