Journal Descriptions

Representation is a peer-reviewed journal. All submitted manuscripts are subject to initial appraisal by the Editors, and, if found suitable for further consideration, to peer review by independent, anonymous expert referees. Peer review is double anonymized and submission is online via ScholarOne. Representation seeks contributions that explore the interface between democratic practice and theory. It has been publishing since the 1960s and has a general interest in all matters relating to the theme of representative democracy. For example, theoretical discussion could make a significant contribution to current practices in topics such as the democratic deficit, representation for women and minorities, modernising elections, voter education and democratic institutions at transnational, or global, level. Representation offers a place for debates and scholarship, both empirical and normative, on democrat practices around the world.
