Reading Horizons: A Journal of Literacy and Language Arts is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access research journal supported by the Dorothy J. McGinnis Endowment at Western Michigan University, College of Education & Human Development. The journal publishes research-based and empirical studies in the field of language arts and literacy education. Reading Horizons was first published in 1960 by Dorothy J. McGinnis as a local reading education newsletter and developed into an open-access research journal serving reading educators, teacher educators and researchers. The journal has a wide international readership that has reached over two million downloads and contributes to the growing body of knowledge about literacy education. Our quarterly journal welcomes new and current research representing a variety of methodologies and topics. We do not accept theoretical essays, literature reviews, conceptual papers, and course projects. As a rigorous peer-reviewed publication, Reading Horizons endeavors to share timely and high quality research with school professionals, literacy researchers, teacher educators, parents, and community leaders. Indexed in Cabell's Whitelist. Reading Horizons is a peer-reviewed journal with a mission to publish high quality articles that focus on applied research, practice and education in literacy and language arts.
