Public Finance and Management (PFM)
Journal Descriptions
Public Finance and Management is a well-established interdisciplinary academic journal devoted to expanding understanding of public financial practices, policies, and management frameworks. Since its early 2000s inception, the journal has provided a quarterly platform for rigorous research that bridges theory and practice in public finance and administration. Its articles examine critical facets of governmental finance, including revenue mobilization, budgeting processes, spending effectiveness, debt and cash-flow management, auditing and accountability, and procurement systems. In addition to traditional public finance issues, the journal encourages research on emerging topics such as behavioral public financial management, digital transformation in finance systems, responses to economic crises, and financing resilient infrastructure. With contributions from scholars around the world, the journal promotes comparative and international perspectives that enrich discourse on how different jurisdictions manage public funds under varying institutional, economic, and political contexts. The editorial standards ensure double-blind peer review for all submissions, enhancing the quality and relevance of published research. The journal is affiliated with the Southern Public Administration Education Foundation (SPAEF) and published in partnership with SAGE Publications, enabling wide dissemination to academic and practitioner communities interested in public finance policy, governance, and public sector management.
