Journal Descriptions

Founded in 1964, Psychophysiology is the world’s leading journal dedicated to psychophysiological science. The journal plays a crucial role in advancing human neuroscience across various methodologies, including both brain, autonomic, and endocrine measures. Psychophysiology covers a wide range of research on the interaction between physiological and psychological factors. Studies published in Psychophysiology typically involve psychological independent variables and noninvasive physiological dependent variables, such as hemodynamic, optical, and electromagnetic brain imaging. The journal also features autonomic and endocrine measures, for example, heart rate, electromyography, pupillometry, and more. While most studies focus on human participants, the journal occasionally publishes research using animal models if appropriate for advancing the topics listed above. Psychophysiology also welcomes submissions exploring new theoretical, empirical, and methodological advances in areas that are adjacent to psychophysiological research, such as: Cognitive and affective neuroscience Behavioral medicine Clinical and social neuroscience
