Pouvoirs (Pouvoirs)
Journal Descriptions
The journal POUVOIRS was founded in 1977 by Philippe Ardant and Olivier Duhamel at Presses universitaires de France. It has been published by Editions du Seuil since 1994, and is currently edited by Julie Benetti and Nicolas Molfessis. It has become one of France's leading journals in the field of institutions and political science, and its influence and authority, beyond the world of specialists, have continued to grow. Each issue of the journal is devoted to a theme, with a dozen or so articles commissioned to form a coherent whole. The choice of themes aims to bring the most recent analyses of institutions, countries or fields to the attention of the academic and educated public, from the point of view of political and legal science. The journal calls on French and foreign researchers, both young and experienced, but always in a way that respects ideological and scientific plurality. In addition to these articles, we regularly publish studies on the evolution of the main foreign political systems ("Repères étrangers") and on French political life ("Chronique constitutionnelle française"); over the years, these have provided us with a unique set of data and references. Last but not least, a number of articles unrelated to the theme and permanent sections are included, selected from research papers submitted to the journal.
