Politique africaine (PA)
Journal Descriptions
Published by the Association of African Policy Researchers (ACPA) and published by Karthala, Politique africaine is a multidisciplinary, peer-reviewed journal analyzing politics in Africa. Created in 1980, breaking away from traditional approaches to Africa, it has established itself in France and abroad as a reference publication for the entire international community specializing in the continent. For almost 40 years, the journal has been helping to de-exoticize a certain Western academic perception of politics in Africa. Thanks to a constant effort to renew the way we look at the continent , Politique africaine offers an innovative reading of the place of politics in African societies, contributing to a more detailed analysis of the developments taking place in Africa and in its relations with the rest of the world. Each issue of Politique africaine is structured around a thematic dossier, focusing on a country or regional area. The issue's special issue highlights two or three articles on particularly innovative research issues or questions. With over 160 published issues, the journal offers articles that combine new empirical data with theoretical rigor. To this end, it prioritizes publishing original fieldwork, broadens its coverage to African authors, and strives to strengthen collaboration with the continent's various research organizations. Politique africaine also aims to closely link fundamental research with current affairs analysis and seeks to provide a wider readership than just academics with keys to interpreting the vagaries of the economic situation.
