Journal Descriptions

Plant & Cell Physiology (PCP) was established in 1959 and is the official journal of the Japanese Society of Plant Physiologists (JSPP). The title reflects the journal's original interest and scope to encompass research not just at the whole-organism level but also at the cellular and subcellular levels. Amongst the broad range of topics covered by this international journal, readers will find the very best original research on plant physiology, biochemistry, cell biology, molecular genetics, epigenetics, biotechnology, bioinformatics and –omics; as well as how plants respond to and interact with their environment (abiotic and biotic factors), and the biology of photosynthetic microorganisms. In 2000, PCP transitioned to print and online publication with Oxford University Press. We publish one volume per year, which consists of twelve monthly issues, and our current impact factor is 4.9 (five-year impact factor of 5.7). Each issue is primarily composed of regular research papers and occasional reviews (mostly submitted on an invitation-only basis). We also publish 'rapid papers' containing new findings of exceptional interest and novelty, which require quick publication and enhanced dissemination (i.e. free access for the first three months). Also in each issue, the Editor-In-Chief selects one article of interest to be made freely available to all readers. Full list.
