Philosophy, Politics and Critique (PPC)
Journal Descriptions
It has become a truism to say that “everything is political.” But what does the political mean? Answering this question leads to divergent approaches and major disagreements. Philosophy, Politics, and Critique (PPC) celebrates this plurality holding that it is indispensable to adopting a critical stance about both theoretical questions and practical concerns. This invites an essentially open approach to the question about the political. Philosophy, Politics and Critique publishes articles that regard philosophy as a political and critical activity. It welcomes submissions committed to disrupting presuppositions and assumptions in discourse, and that adopt a polemical edge and theoretical foundation, and attend to the historical trajectories that have led to current perspectives and positions in politics, society and culture. Continental philosophy has been traditionally perceived as favouring interdisciplinary approaches often concerned with political questions. PPC welcomes submissions from neighbouring disciplines using alternative methodologies—such as political or cultural theory, gender or technology studies, as well as analytic philosophy—so long as they address critically the way that thought and the political are intertwined. PPC aims to build a broad and inclusive community of scholars who are interested in the question “what is the political?” and who are willing to contribute articles and participate in the activities of the journal, such as our series of talks and workshops. The Australasian Society for Continental Philosophy (ASCP) is affiliated with the PPC. The ASCP is responsible for one issue per year, and nominates an Associate Editor to the journal.
