Philosophie (Philosophie)
Journal Descriptions
Founded in 1994 by Didier Franck and Pierre Guenancia, managed from 1994 to 2003 by Claude Romano, then by François Calori and Dominique Pradelle from 2003 to 2010, Philosophie has been managed since 2011 by Dominique Pradelle. The former editorial board, renewed in December 2003 and comprising academics covering a wide range of specialties (François Calori, Emmanuel Cattin, David Lefebvre, Pascal Ludwig, Emmanuel Renault, Laurence Renault, Camille Riquier and Céline Spector), was completely renewed a few years ago and now includes a phenomenological focus, in line with the inspiration behind its creation by Didier Franck and Pierre Guenancia. A new feature has been the composition of an "international scientific committee" comprising renowned foreign academics, all of whom (albeit with considerable internal diversity) belong to the phenomenological sphere, and who provide the journal with international academic and intellectual backing. Over the last few years, the team has remained faithful to the spirit that presided over the editorial choices made over the previous twenty years - choices that enabled the journal to acquire and maintain a reputation in France and abroad, notably by presenting articles by well-known French authors (Jacques Bouveresse, Jean-Louis Chrétien, Gilles Deleuze, Jacques Derrida, Vincent Descombes, Michel Henry, Jean-Luc Marion, Jules Vuillemin), but also by introducing foreign authors who have since acquired the status of "classics" (Karl-Otto Apel, Donald Davidson, Michael Dummett, Hilary Putnam, John Rawls....), while promoting the publication of young philosophers who are not part of the academic circuit. The magazine Philosophie does not focus primarily on topical issues in the media spotlight, but on philosophical questions arising from the discipline's tradition.
