Open Forum Infectious Diseases (OFID)
Journal Descriptions
Open Forum Infectious Diseases (OFID) is a fully open-access journal advancing the field of infectious diseases by publishing and promoting high-quality research that improves patient care and public health outcomes. Our goal is to foster collaboration among practitioners, researchers, and policymakers by providing a platform for the exchange of knowledge and ideas. The journal focuses on publishing innovative clinical and translational research, exploring the impact of the natural environment on infectious diseases, enhancing publication literacy among infectious diseases practitioners, and addressing global health challenges. See OFID’s full list of subject sections. OFID does not publish papers focused on non-infectious-diseases topics unless they are of inherent interest to the infectious diseases community (e.g., medical education papers that aren’t focused on infectious diseases but which have direct applicability to infectious diseases pedagogy). OFID also does not accept phase 1 clinical trials, which may be a better fit for our sister journal, The Journal of Infectious Diseases.
