Journal Descriptions

This journal aims to improve and disseminate knowledge in gender studies and feminist studies. NQF was founded in 1981 by Simone de Beauvoir, Christine Delphy, Claude Hennequin, and Emmanuèle de Lesseps as a successor to the journal Questions feminists. Founded in 1981 by Simone de Beauvoir, Christine Delphy, Claude Hennequin and Emmanuèle de Lesseps, NQF follows on from the magazine Questions féministes created in 1977. Since 2001, NQF has had a Franco-Swiss editorial board, headed by Christine Delphy and Patricia Roux. The board is currently made up of 25 women from a wide range of disciplines (sociology, anthropology, political science, history, law, philosophy, economics, literature). Published twice a year, NQF is published in Lausanne by Éditions Antipodes. In addition to paper issues (168 pages on average), it is also accessible online on JSTOR (except for the last three years) and on CAIRN (since 2002 issues). Since August 2018, NQF has been hosted by the Haute école de travail social et de la santé | EESP | Lausanne, within the Réseau Genre et Travail social (GeTS). For the previous 17 years, the journal was anchored at LIEGE (Laboratoire interuniversitaire en Etudes Genre), then at CEG (Centre en Etudes Genre) at the University of Lausanne. NQF is published with the financial support of these two universities. It has also benefited from years of support from the Swiss University Conference Program in Gender Studies. NQF was incorporated as an association in 2015, so as to be clearly independent of its host universities. Nouvelles Questions Féministes , an international French-language journal founded in 1981, publishes scientific articles in the humanities and social sciences that examine the social processes at the root of gender inequalities and discrimination, as well as their transformations over time and space.
