Nordic Journal of Wellbeing and Sustainable Welfare Development (NJWEL)

Nordic Journal of Wellbeing and Sustainable Welfare Development (NJWEL) is a scholarly transdisciplinary journal that focuses on social conditions and services that promote wellbeing, participation and citizenship at different levels; local, national and international. The journal focuses on how wellbeing and civic participation can be created through work in local communities and in the arenas of everyday life, as well as through welfare services and other social and political institutions. Particular focus is placed on the Nordic welfare states and what can contribute to reducing social inequality and promoting human rights, democracy, health and wellbeing for all - in both current and future generations. The journal focuses on social sustainability, including the connections between social, economic and environmental sustainability. The journal publishes scientific articles (see author's guide), commentaries, essays, and short reports that refer to practical examples. The journal's target a broad audiences such as researchers working to promote quality of life and sustainable wellbeing development, and the content is also relevant for students, practitioners across disciplines and professions, managers and politicians, civil society actors, media and the general public. The Nordic Journal of Wellbeing and Sustainable Welfare Development was established in 2021 and publishes two issues per year. The journal is published by Scandinavian University Press, with support from NTNU, anchored in the Nordic Research Center for Wellbeing and Social Sustainability (NTNU WellFare) at the Department of Education and Lifelong Learning, the Department of Teacher Education, and the Department of Social Work.
