Nordic Journal of Innovation in the Public Sector is an international open access journal on innovation in, or related to the public sector - predominantly relating to the Nordic context. It is a scientific and interdisciplinary journal that publishes high quality papers in the field. In addition the journal aims to function as an arena where research and practice come together, in which the overall purpose is to utilize the research- and experience-based knowledge gained. Applying ‘the Nordic’ as lenses comes with a dual purpose: To better understand how the Nordic model, and welfare state characteristics, is framing and conditioning how innovation takes place across society – to create insights and learnings, which are also relevant and applicable to other contexts. To support critical thinking and applied research based on a tradition of participation, democracy and equality. Therefore, the journal is concerned with topics such as: Governance structures for innovation Innovation networks and eco-systems Innovation as democratizing practice Social innovation – within and on the margins of the public sector The public sector as enabler of private and third sector innovation Digitalization and innovation Organizing and management of public sector innovation Co-creation practices and logics The relation between innovation and public value creation New understandings of economies, herein social impact and measurement tools The role of public sector innovation in green transition and sustainability policies
