Journal Descriptions

Nordic Journal of Botany is an internationally recognised, peer‑reviewed scientific journal published on behalf of the Nordic Society Oikos in cooperation with Wiley‑Blackwell. Established in 1981 from the merger of traditional Nordic botanical periodicals, the journal focuses on advancing botanical science through rigorous research that spans plant and fungal systematics, evolution, ecology, biogeography and conservation. It publishes original research articles, reviews and essays that deepen understanding of biodiversity patterns, evolutionary relationships, environmental change effects and plant functional ecology. The scope includes classical taxonomy and phylogenetics as well as contemporary ecological and biogeographical studies addressing population dynamics, species interactions, ecosystem functioning, restoration ecology and conservation biology. With a monthly publication schedule, Nordic Journal of Botany ensures timely dissemination of high‑quality scientific contributions from researchers around the world. The journal is indexed in major scholarly databases, including Web of Science and Scopus, making it a valuable source of botanical research for academics, conservation practitioners and students of plant sciences. By blending traditional systematics with modern ecological approaches, it serves as a bridge between evolutionary history and current biodiversity challenges in the face of global change.
