Journal Descriptions

Neurobehavioral Toxicology was a peer reviewed scientific journal dedicated to the study of toxic substances and their effects on the nervous system and behavior. The journal focused on experimental and clinical research involving neurotoxicity, behavioral toxicology, environmental hazards, pharmacological agents, and neurological dysfunction caused by chemical exposure. The publication provided an interdisciplinary platform for neuroscientists, toxicologists, psychologists, pharmacologists, occupational health specialists, and environmental researchers. Topics commonly covered included heavy metal toxicity, solvent exposure, pesticide neurotoxicity, developmental neurotoxicity, behavioral testing methods, neurochemical mechanisms, cognitive impairment, and neurological effects of industrial and environmental contaminants. The journal contributed significantly to the development of neurotoxicology research during the late twentieth century. It emphasized both laboratory investigations and public health implications of toxic exposures affecting human and animal nervous systems. Later, the publication evolved into Neurobehavioral Toxicology and Teratology, broadening its scope to include developmental abnormalities and teratogenic effects. Archived issues remain valuable references in environmental medicine and neurotoxicology research.
