National Geographic Research (NGR)

National Geographic Research was a scholarly scientific journal published by the National Geographic Society between 1985 and 1990. The journal served as an academic extension of the well known National Geographic magazine and focused on publishing peer reviewed scientific studies, field investigations, and interdisciplinary research related to geography, natural sciences, archaeology, anthropology, ethnology, wildlife, and environmental exploration. The journal provided a platform for researchers, explorers, conservation scientists, and academics involved in global scientific expeditions and geographic studies. It emphasized field based research and included articles on biodiversity, animal behavior, human cultures, ecosystems, paleontology, oceanography, and environmental conservation. The publication combined rigorous scientific analysis with the exploration oriented tradition of the National Geographic Society. National Geographic Research later continued under the title Research & Exploration beginning in 1991. The journal became recognized internationally for presenting scientific findings in an accessible yet scholarly manner and was indexed in academic databases including Scopus.
