Journal Descriptions

NASN School Nurse is a peer-reviewed clinical resource journal dedicated to advancing school nursing practice through the publication of high-quality, evidence-based clinical content and professional information targeted to practicing school nurses and school health professionals. Since its launch in 2001, the journal has served as a key communication vehicle for the National Association of School Nurses (NASN) by highlighting timely issues in school health, innovations in school nursing practice, and organizational resources that help practitioners provide safe, effective care within educational settings. Each bimonthly issue features a mix of feature articles, clinical practice updates, policy/legal analyses, and thematic sections on relevant school health topics such as asthma and allergies, diabetes care, healthy lifestyles, immunizations and infectious diseases, screenings and referral procedures, and addressing the needs of students with special health care requirements. The journal’s mission is to enhance the professional practice of school nursing by disseminating both practical guidance and evidence-based recommendations to improve student health outcomes and support the broader school community. NASN School Nurse is indexed in major databases such as CINAHL, EMBASE, MEDLINE/PubMed, and Scopus, reflecting its relevance and visibility in nursing and health literature.
