Journal Descriptions

The Revue NAQD d'études et de critique sociale is a bilingual (French-Arabic) publication issued in Algeria. With a print run of 2,000 copies, its distribution is by subscription and bookstore sales. It is sent by mail to subscribers (academics, intellectuals, associations, libraries and other academic institutions) in Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt and Lebanon, in some European countries (France, Sweden, Spain, Germany, Italy) and in America (USA, Canada, Mexico). The contributions we publish are studies of social problems in the Maghreb and Middle East region, as well as in the global South. They are intended for a more or less broad readership of readers/writers as well as researchers in the social sciences. Each issue includes articles on a dominant theme: "Islamism, Women...", "Culture and Identity", "The National Question", "The Education System", "Structural Readjustment and Political Systems", "The Image of the Other, Sociology of Diversity and Intolerance", "Thinking Politics" etc. Articles written in English, German and Spanish are regularly translated into Arabic or French, to make them accessible to the widest possible audience. English-speaking readers and subscribers can also access certain contributions directly in English (on request only). The NAQD Review is one of the few publications in the Maghreb that opens up a debate of ideas and contributes to broadening the scope of critical thinking in its own country and in those of the region.
