Multifunctional Materials (MM)

Multifunctional Materials is a multidisciplinary peer‑reviewed scientific journal published by IOP Publishing Ltd. It was launched in 2018 to serve an emerging research field focused on materials engineered to perform multiple functions simultaneously, integrating structural and non‑structural properties through innovative design. The scope spans both fundamental science and technological applications, bridging materials science, physics, chemistry, bioscience and engineering communities. The journal aims to publish original research of the highest quality and technological impact, including new concepts in multifunctional design, multifunctional composites, adaptive and smart materials, metamaterials, and advanced manufacturing systems. Research topics include actuation, sensing, self‑healing, flexible electronics, robotics materials, sustainability materials and multi‑functional systems.
