Mondes arabes (MA)
Journal Descriptions
A peer-reviewed journal of political social sciences focusing on the Arab and Muslim worlds , Arab Worlds is the result of an ambitious project to overhaul the journal Maghreb Machrek , founded in 1964 and whose issues published between 1964 and 2001 it publishes . This new journal aims to adopt a scientific and editorial approach different from the current version of Maghreb Machrek ; the two journals are thus distinct both in terms of their teams and their editors. It publishes articles by researchers from different disciplines (anthropology, geography, history, political science, sociology, etc.) while promoting the breaking down of barriers between questions and approaches. It favors research that is attentive to social and political practices and interactions, as well as to their historicities, based on an explicit methodology. The articles are based on a detailed knowledge of the areas explored, based on original sources and materials whose analysis is aligned with a solid international literature in social sciences. Motivated by the desire to understand past and ongoing transformations, it brings together contributions that address contemporary issues in the Maghreb and the Mashreq, allowing for openings towards the neighboring countries of the zone. Arab Worlds is composed of thematic dossiers, miscellaneous articles – the editors of this section are Claire Beaugrand, Véronique Bontemps and Choukri Hmed –, but also interviews – editors of the section: Yasmine Berriane and Assia Boutaleb –, a “Fields & Archives” section – editors of the section: Amin Allal and Chaymaa Hassabo – and reviews – editors of the section: Youssef El Chazli and Matthieu Rey. Thematic dossiers are supported by a member of the editorial board (see “How to submit a thematic dossier”). For more information, see the Note to authors.
