Miscellanea Storica della Valdelsa (MSV)
Journal Descriptions
The journal was founded in 1893 by the Valdelsa Historical Society, with the aim of collecting studies on the civil, literary, artistic, religious, customs, and cultural history of the Valdelsa, with a particular focus on the Middle Ages. Born in a period in which the historiographical climate was marked by the encounter between the historical-philological school and the new school defined by Croce as "economic-legal," the "Miscellanea" reflected its characteristics, although over the years it has adapted to new developments in historiography and broadened its horizons towards the modern and contemporary era and towards the history of culture, historiography, and ideas. Journal founded in 1893 The journal was created in 1893 by the Società Storica della Valdelsa to collect studies on the social, literary, artistic, religious, and cultural history of Valdelsa, with a special focus on the Middle Ages. The journal showed in its beginnings the influence of the main trends in historiography of its time, such as that of the historical-philological school and of the economic-juridical one, as Croce would define it. Nonetheless, over the years the «Miscellanea» has succeeded in developing itself according to the new advancements in historiography, and has widened its interests toward the modern and contemporary ages, and the history of culture, historiography, and ideas.
