Mind, Culture, and Activity (MCA) is an international journal for peer-reviewed articles that examines the genesis, relationships, and co-constitution of mind and culture in a variety of human activities. MCA is interested in research studying these processes in social, historical, economic, and political contexts, and through the lens of power and privilege. We consider studies along the axes of race, class, gender, ethnicity, and dis/ability as well as issues of praxis and development. We emphasize research that takes a critical stance towards these questions with regard to inclusion and justice, and in connection with activist agendas and social movements. MCA aligns with the goals of liberatory epistemologies to reimagine approaches that challenge oppression. We aim to facilitate inclusive, transformative, sustainable, and utopian social experiments. MCA seeks to promote dialogue among schools of thought and encourage interdisciplinary submissions. Authors and readers are principally located in psychology, education, sociology, anthropology, philosophy, critical race and gender studies, queer studies, technology studies, critical geography, media studies, communication, and linguistics. We encourage submissions from underrepresented geographies and communities and early career scholars. We encourage submissions that present empirical and theoretical studies, syntheses of theoretical and empirical research, commentaries responding to articles published in MCA, and creative works. We publish book reviews commissioned by the editors, and shorter book notes. MCA welcomes articles utilizing qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods research.
