Literature and Theology (LT)
Journal Descriptions
Literature and Theology, a quarterly peer-reviewed journal, publishes work pertaining to the study of literature and theology. The terms literature and theology are broadly understood. “Literature” includes literary work of any genre and extends to other artistic media such as film and the visual arts. “Theology” includes all global religions, concepts of religion, spirituality, the relationship between the secular and sacred, and any aspect of religious culture. Work submitted to Literature and Theology should address the intersection between literature and theology rather than focussing solely on one term or the other. The journal seeks to publish work on a diverse range of topics and welcomes different approaches (e.g., work that is oriented theoretically, historically, thematically, or formally). Submissions should be framed critically rather than presuming a confessional context, although the journal is happy to receive work in which authors reflect on faith/religious practice and its relevance to the critical study of literature and theology. The language of the journal is English. Articles should be submitted through the journal’s online portal, be 6,000-10,000 words in length (inclusive of notes), should not be published elsewhere, and must adhere to the latest Chicago Manual of Style guidelines (notes, not author/date). All submissions that fit the journal’s scope will be sent for double blind peer review.
