Journal Descriptions

Lippincott’s Case Management was a peer reviewed healthcare management and nursing journal dedicated to advancing the practice of case management across healthcare systems. Published in the United States by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins beginning in 2000, the journal served nurses, healthcare administrators, social workers, rehabilitation specialists, and professional case managers involved in coordinating patient care and improving healthcare delivery outcomes. The journal focused on evidence based approaches to patient care coordination, discharge planning, disease management, resource utilization, interdisciplinary collaboration, and healthcare quality improvement. It published original research articles, case studies, professional practice guidelines, policy discussions, and leadership strategies related to healthcare management and patient advocacy. Special attention was given to chronic disease management, continuity of care, managed care systems, ethical decision making, and cost effective healthcare delivery. The publication became an important professional resource during the early expansion of integrated healthcare systems and coordinated care programs in the United States. In 2007, the journal was renamed Professional Case Management to reflect the broader evolution of the healthcare case management profession. The continuation journal remains associated with the Case Management Society of America and continues to publish research on modern healthcare coordination and patient centered care practices.
