Journal Descriptions

This quarterly journal that is coedited by France’s École Nationale de la Magistrature offers its audience a new take on the world (or indeed worlds) of justice, while at the same time questioning its growing role in democratic societies. The fruit of a partnership between ENM and Dalloz, this quarterly magazine, launched in 2010, offers its readers a fresh look at the world(s) of justice, while questioning its growing place in democratic societies. Supported by a multi-disciplinary editorial committee, the magazine gives pride of place to the reflections of specialists in the field of justice, without forgetting the point of view of professionals in all their diversity of expression. The contents open with a editorial by the editorial team, and an opinion piece on a controversial topic. Each issue includes a central feature dealing with a social issue as it is shaped by judicial debate. Over the years, we've tackled issues such as surrogate motherhood, euthanasia, terrorism and secularism. This dossier is made up of several articles, often reflecting work carried out by institutions close to the magazine (Mission de recherche droit et justice, Institut des hautes études sur la justice, Association française pour l'histoire de la justice...). The magazine's four chronicles reflect its general spirit: - judging elsewhere (comparative approach to the act of judging) - crossroads of knowledge (social science perspective on justice issues) - justice and democratic debate (participation of the courts in democratic life) - justice in situation (testimonies of experience or reflections from practitioners). Finally, the section lire, voir entendre is specifically devoted to judicial culture. It is open to literary, cinematic and audiovisual approaches, as well as book reviews (fiction and non-fiction), theses, exhibitions, symposia, etc.
