Le sujet dans la cité (SDC)
Journal Descriptions
aims to explore the processes of mutual institution of individuals and societies, by questioning the way in which individual constructions take effect in historical, cultural, social, economic, political, educational and training environments, and in which collective spaces are acted upon, signified and transformed by individual actors. In this respect, the journal claims to be part of a research movement, well represented in English-speaking and German-speaking countries (Biography research, Biographieforschung), which is located at the crossroads of numerous disciplinary fields in the human and social sciences: by describing the biographical modalities according to which individuals give form and meaning to their experiences within the historical and social world, biographical research aims to account for the subjective reality of social facts and the formation of the individual as a singular social being. By displaying from its title two notions with a high philosophical and political charge and by placing them in a deliberately problematizing relationship, the journal Le sujet dans la Cité intends to signify the links that it proposes to question between self-construction and social inscription, between personal projects and collective practices, between individual reflexivity and social deliberation, between education and society, between ethics and politics.
