Journal Descriptions

The Latin American and Caribbean Journal of International Law (LACJIL) stands as the first peer-review journal dedicated to publishing articles on international law and Latin America and the Caribbean in the English language. With a broadly conceived regional scope, the Journal serves as a platform for: (1) Exceptional articles by scholars, government officials and legal professionals from Latin America and the Caribbean, or by any authors bringing a Latin American or Caribbean perspective on issues of global or regional interest; (2) Discussions that enhance the understanding of international legal developments taking place in Latin America and the Caribbean. To achieve these goals, the Journal invites submissions in English from authors in the Latin America and the Caribbean region. Articles in Spanish, Portuguese and French may be considered and, if accepted, will be translated by the Journal to ensure that they reach the widest possible audience. Additionally, the Journal also welcomes articles in English that provide critical analysis of Latin American and/or Caribbean legal developments from non-Latin American or Caribbean authors. Submissions from early career scholars within the region, and book reviews and review essays on Latin American and Caribbean books are encouraged. The Journal encompasses both public and private international law, as well as related areas including regional integration law, global governance, transnational law, foreign relations law, and commercial and investment arbitration. All articles undergo double-anonymized peer review. Our Editorial Board includes both established and emerging scholars and practitioners from Latin America and the Caribbean representing a wide range of disciplines and perspectives across international law. The Journal is strongly committed to academic freedom, with no limitations to publishing other than high standards of quality and integrity.
