L'Illustrazione (L'Illustrazione)

The journal, founded to fill a gap in the academic landscape, primarily in Italy, and supported by a large international scientific committee, aims to offer established scholars and younger researchers a space to bring together their contributions regarding the illustrated printed book, in its many forms, from its 15th-century origins to the contemporary era. It also aims to be a forum for scholars from diverse backgrounds (historians of books and illustrations, as well as historians of art and literature) to engage in dialogue and exchange on the highly fruitful topic of the relationship between text and image. "L'Illustrazione" is published in a 29.5 x 21 cm format, and each issue is accompanied by extensive illustrations. It is published annually and divided into two sections: the first features previously unpublished contributions in Italian and major foreign languages; the second, through timely reviews of recent volumes and publications, offers the most up-to-date and international overview possible of studies on the illustrated printed book. It is also a venue in which scholars representing various fronts (historians of books and illustrations, but also art and literature historians) can dialogue and engage regarding the fertile subject of the relationship between text and image. "L’Illustrazione" is published in a format of 29.5 x 21 cm and each issue is accompanied by an extensive iconography. It is proposed on an annual basis and is divided into two sections.
