The Kottakkal Journal of Ayurvedic Medicine and Research is a peer-reviewed, quarterly online journal by Bhishak, the Publication division of the Kerala Ayurvedic Studies and Research Society (KASRS). Launched in 2025 and hosted by Vaidyaratnam P.S. Varier Ayurveda College, Kottakkal, the journal aims to advance Ayurvedic science by integrating traditional Ayurvedic principles with modern scientific research. This journal aims to carry forward the legacy of our founder, Vaidyaratnam PS Varier, who had insightful and far-sighted views regarding Ayurvedic therapeutics, pharmacy, and education. He pioneered Ayurvedic magazine publication, being the chief editor of Dhanvantari, the first medical journal in Ayurveda to be published in Kerala. Dhanvantari was published as a monthly journal and included articles on various topics of contemporary importance. Dhanvantari was able to generate opinions and discussions on a multitude of subjects even in that era of nascent communication facilities.
