Kart og Plan is a scholarly journal aiming to publish and disseminate Norwegian research of high academic quality. The journal publishes original research articles, other academical articles, popular science articles and book reviews. The journal covers the fields of planning, land consolidation, land administration, geomatics and mapping and legal aspects of these fields. Geomatics and mapping includes, among others, land surveying, geodesy, photogrammetry, catrography, hydrography, geographic information systems, satellite mapping, and remote sensing. Planning, land consolidation and administration and legal aspects include, among others, spatial planning in state, county, municipal and private sectors, public and private property and land management, valuation of real estate and other land law. The target group of the journal includes researchers, teachers, students, political and administrative decision makers, the media and the general public. The journal publishes articles mainly in Norwegian, but also considers articles in English, Swedish and Danish. Kart og Plan was first established in 1908 under the title Tidsskrift for Det norske utskiftningsvæsen. In 1952, the title was changed to Norsk tidsskrift for Jordskifte og Landmåling, and in 1970, to Kart og Plan. The journal is published by Scandinavian University Press on behalf of Norwegian professionals for the built environment.
