Justice Quarterly ( JQ ) is an official publication of the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences. It is a refereed, multi-disciplinary journal that seeks to publish significant scholarship of general interest to the field on a range of topics related to criminal justice, criminology, and crime. JQ prioritizes "big science" scholarship that is grounded in methodological rigor and is likely to (1) make substantial and long-standing contributions to criminal justice and criminological theory and research, and (2) inform efforts, including work on translational criminology, to create and support evidence-based policy and practice. We welcome submissions that report original research using quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods, as well as papers that are primarily theoretical or conceptual in nature. For a full description of the editorial philosophy of the journal, please click here. JQ is published seven times a year with one issue being a special topics thematic issue. Peer Review Policy: All submissions are subject to preliminary review. Submissions may be deflected from full review when they do not meet the journal's publication standards or fit with the journal and its mission. This process ensures that authors receive timely reviews and that reviewers' time is focused only on manuscripts that strongly fit with the journal. If found suitable for further consideration, manuscripts will be reviewed by independent, anonymous expert referees. All peer review is double anonymized.
