Journal Descriptions
The Journal of Wrist Surgery is an internationally peer-reviewed journal launched in 2012 that focuses exclusively on pathologies and surgical management of the wrist and associated small hand bones. Published six times a year by Thieme Medical Publishers, it provides a specialized platform for clinicians and researchers to share advances in wrist surgery, including arthroscopy, reconstructive techniques, minimally invasive and open procedures, trauma management, and emerging technologies. The journal serves as the official organ of the International Wrist Arthroscopy Society and is affiliated with the Asia Pacific Wrist Association—highlighting its global reach and commitment to excellence in wrist surgery education. Its multidisciplinary content includes clinical studies, systematic reviews, innovative surgical techniques, case reports, and peer-reviewed surgical video content, which together support evidence-based practice and improve surgical outcomes. Indexed in major bibliographic databases such as EMBASE, PubMed Central and ESCI, the journal ensures broad accessibility to orthopaedic and surgical communities. Under the leadership of Editor-in-Chief Toshiyasu Nakamura, MD, PhD, the publication fosters international collaboration and dissemination of high-quality research that influences clinical decision-making in wrist care.
