Journal of Vocational Rehabilitation (JVR)
Journal Descriptions
The Journal of Vocational Rehabilitation (JVR) is a well-established, peer-reviewed academic journal dedicated to advancing the field of vocational rehabilitation and employment services for people with disabilities. Originally launched in 1991, JVR has served for more than three decades as a respected forum for disseminating research evidence, practical program evaluations, policy analysis, and innovative service strategies that directly inform rehabilitation counselors, occupational therapists, psychologists, employment specialists, policymakers, and educators. The journal publishes original research articles, review papers, program descriptions, and case studies that span a broad range of topics including supported employment models, workplace accommodations, transition from school to adult employment for youth with disabilities, labor market participation outcomes, and systems change initiatives. JVR’s emphasis on evidence-based practice ensures that findings have immediate relevance for professionals engaged in direct services, program development, and advocacy. It has also increasingly addressed interdisciplinary approaches involving psychology, occupational therapy, disability policy, and rehabilitation technology. Indexed in major abstracting services such as Scopus and Web of Science’s Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI), JVR contributes to shaping both scholarly discourse and real-world practices that improve employment outcomes and inclusion for individuals with disabilities.
