Journal of Tropical Futures (JTF)
Journal Descriptions
The Journal of Tropical Futures: Sustainable Business, Governance & Development is a peer‑reviewed, multidisciplinary academic journal that explores the complex challenges and opportunities for sustainable development in the tropical regions of the world — broadly defined as the zone between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn. The journal emphasizes responsible and equitable approaches to growth, governance, and social well‑being in these contexts, where rapid demographic changes and evolving economic structures characterize some of the world’s fastest‑growing regions. JTF publishes rigorous empirical studies (quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods), conceptual and theoretical articles, and case studies that engage with themes including sustainable tropical environments, public policy and regional development, workforce and human development, international business and trade in the tropics, and sustainable tourism and hospitality. The journal aims to bridge disciplinary boundaries — welcoming contributions from business and management, economics, political science, geography, sociology, anthropology, social policy, gender studies, and development studies — to provide diverse perspectives on sustainability in tropical contexts. By fostering research that is both scholarly and socially relevant, Journal of Tropical Futures contributes to policy debates and practical solutions that balance economic growth, social equity, and environmental stewardship in the tropics — a region of growing global importance for development, biodiversity, and human well‑being.
