Journal of the Society for Integrative Oncology (JSIO)
Journal Descriptions
The Journal of the Society for Integrative Oncology was an international peer-reviewed medical journal dedicated to advancing the field of integrative oncology. Established in 2005, it served as the official publication of the Society for Integrative Oncology (SIO), a multidisciplinary organization focused on combining conventional cancer treatment with complementary and integrative therapies. The journal published original research, clinical trials, systematic reviews, and evidence-based guidelines related to the use of complementary therapies in oncology care. Key areas included acupuncture, herbal medicine, nutrition, mind–body interventions, and lifestyle modifications aimed at improving patient outcomes and quality of life during cancer treatment. It played an important role in promoting rigorous scientific evaluation of alternative and supportive therapies in oncology, encouraging collaboration between oncologists, researchers, and complementary medicine practitioners. The journal also contributed to the development of clinical practice guidelines in integrative cancer care. The publication was released quarterly and was widely read by professionals in oncology, nursing, and integrative medicine. Although print publication ceased around 2009–2010, its legacy continues through modern integrative oncology research and the ongoing activities of the Society for Integrative Oncology.
